Originally from Victoria BC, Amanda is a graduate of the University of Toronto where she holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Violin Performance. Amanda also holds a Performance Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music as well as Performance Diplomas from the Victoria Conservatory of Music and the Royal Academy of Music, London England.

Amanda is an active freelancer and chamber musician and has played with and held positions with a number of professional orchestras such as Victoria Symphony, Sinfonia Toronto, Windsor Symphony, Brantford Symphony, Toronto Philharmonia, Toronto Concert Orchestra, Hamilton Philharmonic and Talisker Players. She has performed with Canadian talent such as Jann Arden, The Canadian Tenors, and John McDermott, as well as Anne Murray. Amanda has also performed extensively for CBC radio and television with various orchestras and groups.

As a teacher, Amanda is passionately and actively involved in teaching the Suzuki method and has completed teacher training Books 1 to 10 through the Suzuki Association of the Americas studying with Karen Kimmett, Kathleen Spring, Allen Lieb and Ann Montska-Smeltser. She has also completed her SPA (Suzuki Principles in Action) certification with Sally Gross and her ECC (Every Child Can!) with Daphne Hughes and Gail Lange. Amanda is currently on faculty at Etobicoke Suzuki Music and at the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Amanda grew up as a “Suzuki kid” and is now a “Suzuki mom” to a current ESM student. Her son plays the violin and is attending Etobicoke School of the Arts.
