Wendy was one of the first Suzuki violin students in Canada at the Talent Education program in Edmonton, Alberta in 1965. She received a gold medal for her ARCT examination with the Royal Conservatory of Music and later earned a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance at Indiana University. Spending a summer with the National Youth Orchestra, along with spending five summers at the Banff School of Fine Arts, sparked her career in music.

Wendy began her orchestral career as assistant concertmaster of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, then in 1985 joined the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa. Since 1990, Wendy has been a faculty member of ESM. She is also currently a member of the College of Examiners for the Royal Conservatory of Music and conducts music examinations across Canada and parts of the US. She is a member of the National Ballet of Canada Orchestra and freelances with other notable orchestras: the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

Wendy’s husband, Paul Rogers, is a member of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (double bass) and takes interest in instrument restoration. They have three adult children, two of whom attended ESM as younger children. Shaun (double bass) and Jacqueline (cello) are currently attending university programs in music performance. Erica has chosen to pursue a science career in the military.

Wendy and Paul sail a lovely Beneteau Oceanis “Beau Geste” to Ontario’s Thousand Islands every summer.
