Headstart Program
About ESM Headstart
Designed as a fun introduction to Suzuki music education and instrument learning, Headstart is a three-day summer class for prospective families and children ages 3 to 7. Headstart introduces families to the Suzuki Method through singing, games and exploration of the cello and violin. Parents are introduced to working with their children during instrumental lessons and to learning some basic skills on the instrument.
● Children’s lessons: Children receive a taste of pre-Suzuki instrumental lessons in a friendly group environment. Small violins and cellos will be available for the children to try.
● Parent Education: Parents will experience discussions, receive coaching on early childhood education skills as they pertain to the Suzuki Method, and gain tips and ideas about setting up the home practice environment. Full-sized instruments will be on hand for the parents to try. Because parents are integral to children’s learning processes, parent participation is required and each child should be accompanied by a dedicated adult. Instruments or musical experience are not needed.
Headstart is taught by ESM Suzuki directors Amanda Lee and Anne Rankin.
